[ LIFE CYCLE]
The Edwions' green tails have thousands of small, shallow pores. At the bottom of each pore lies one single dormant seed.
Once pollinated, the seed begins to form petals and eventually shapes into a flower bud.
As it slowly grows, the hole it calls home follows suit to accommodate its size. If a bud is big enough, it pushes itself to the surface of its parent's tail to begin absorbing direct sunlight and nutrients from the environment.
Once the flower buds - called edlings - have reached peak maturity, the nook they call home dissolves its lining and releases the small creature's roots, letting it fall to the ground to begin its life of independence and survival.
Since the Edwion do not experience puberty, they have infinite potential for growth,
even long after they've reached adulthood. This growth all depends on the amount of nutrients
an individual absorbs from its environment. (This is why Edwion adults vary so much in size.)
The quality and quantity of energy and nutrients an Edwion absorbs after birth greatly affects the way their features develop. If an Edwion doesn't get the proper minerals and vitamins, their face stays
simple and flower-shaped. With adequate nutrients, they develop detailed facial features.
Since Edwion are biologically immortal, they essentially stay as adults and are never physically old. Additionally, they cannot die of old age. Instead, if certain parts of their system are failing or if they've been severely hurt they can revert back to an infant stage. From there they have to start from scratch and re-absorb nutrients to get back to the mature stage they were previously at.
